S.A.V.E. stands for Student and Volunteer Efforts. It is a child abuse and neglect prevention program located within Tarrant County which focuses on linking 'at-risk' families with much needed community resources and services.
The program focuses on prevention and client participation is voluntary. S.A.V.E. offers families assistance with a variety of services including: food, clothing, school supplies, counseling referrals, parenting skills, utility/financial assistance, and holiday assistance.
How exactly does the S.A.V.E program work?
S.A.V.E. is made up of university student interns whom provide case management to families and children and are supervised by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). The interns are assigned to elementary schools in the Arlington Independent School District, the Hurst/Euless/Bedford School District, or the Birdville School District.
These school districts are able to refer clients directly to S.A.V.E. .
The main population that the program serves includes families struggling with poverty, abuse, domestic violence, mental illness, unemployment, physical disabilities, and/or homelessness.
Interns are also provided with opportunities to observe the overall operations of Child Protective Services which may include staff meetings, court hearings, and/or home visits.
Can I simply join the S.A.V.E. program?
There are special processes that must be completed for an intern to be accepted into a S.A.V.E. internship.
Families are referred through participating school districts and Child Protective Services.
