ABOUT OUR EVENT
Tarrant County Police Departments have joined with Community Partners of Tarrant County 501(c)(3) (CPTC)* to meet additional needs that children within Child Protective Services may have.
Sadly- there are thousands of children in Tarrant County that are in Relative Placements, Foster Homes, Residential Treatment Centers, Group Homes, Emergency Shelters, and/or otherwise displaced. These children are the victims of one or many things- physical abuse, sexual abuse, crippling emotional abuse, neglect, and then some.
Many do not want to hear about these issues; because- it isn’t pretty. It doesn’t make people feel good. We cannot simply advertise about the progress of a child that had maggots living in their hair, or children being assaulted by those closest to them, or babies living in homes manufacturing methamphetamine. But this and more happens- EVERY SINGLE DAY.
These children are sometimes placed with family members- struggling to make ends meet with even their own children. Or placed into Foster Homes. Or separated from siblings into emergency shelters until placement becomes available.
Proceeds from this event take care of many ‘little things’ that might make the lives of these children more ‘normal.’
Some examples include:
-
-Medical Expenses
-
-High School Graduation Expenses
-
-Recreational activities (swim lessons, athletics, music lessons, etc.)
-
-Clothing, diapers, lice kits, specialty formula, shoes, etc.
-
-Sibling visitations, basic prom expenses, other special events
-
-The list goes on- and fluctuates based on need.
2020 Virtual Run FAQ
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RUN?
GREAT QUESTION!
Due to COVID-19, we had to make the difficult decision to turn our live event into a Virtual one!
A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym, or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.
Invite your family or even pets along with you while you run!
HOW DO I COMPLETE THE 5K?
Once you have signed up for a race, decide on the course you want to do- and then- time yourself! There are some great free Apps to use on your mobile device if you don't have a timer.
Once the race begins, submit your result by entering your registration number and finish time, and uploading proof of completion (e.g. a screenshot of your tracking app or photo of your GPS watch).
Submit Results Below! (DEADLINE- OCTOBER 1st, 2020)
WHAT ABOUT AWARDS & SHIRTS?
CPTC'S annual Cops-4-Kids 5K has several different race packages to choose from with different pricing options.
After all the 5K Time results are in (deadline is October 1st, 2020) we will begin mailing out your Thank You letter, Participation Event Challenge Coin, Awards (if won), and Shirts (if purchased). All items should be mailed out by October 15th, 2020.
